Honestly, I only sought this book out because there were so many people carrying bags with cute little vampire smiley faces at SDCC last year. I made it a mission to figure out what that darned face meant, and while I wasn't blown away by the story or anything, it wasn't bad.This is basically a typical YA story paired with a typical YA writing style. Brewer certainly is no J.K. Rowling, but the story was cute and interesting enough. I could stop right now and never think about Vlad again in my life, but I might try the second book in the series.
