The Thinking Woman's Guide to Real Magic
The cover and the title reminded me very much of A Discovery of Witches for some reason. That's basically the only reason I picked this book up.
So far, I'm feeling ambivalent.
ETA: I think I would have been okay if the middle 300ish pages had accidentally fallen out of my copy. But they didn't, so I read on.
It was okay. A lot of stuff happened - probably too much to jam into one book, honestly.
The worst part? The names are unique and the book wasn't anything to write home about, which led me to my old standby of pronouncing the names any ol' way I wanted. The main dude became Eärendil because I like the LOTR books, the witch lady became Herjerkis because why not … you get the idea.
Overall impression:
Book was fine.
Not stoked about reading a sequal.
